(The Chronicles of Dalantia Book 1), my first read from author Merick N.H. Ulrik. Although I own five other books by the author I'd never read one until now. The story builds speed and ends up being a very good read. I look forward to reading more from this author. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." There are so many different characters good and bad including creatures good and bad and how they all came together to help and protect each other was outstanding even though they were all from different clans. No one was willing to leave no one behind no matter the sacrifice. I really enjoyed Hatalmas. He was caring and also funny in a way but very protective of Aylene. Ghaken was quite unique but with him losing his whole clan became devoted to Aylene. This book was really hard for me to put down and I enjoyed it tremendously. I am impressed with his ability to weave a tale and continue the storyline as well as develop the various characters. I would recommend this read to others.
